There is a unique kind of vulnerability in packing up a life, especially when that life is deeply intertwined with the soil beneath your feet. For years, Wishful Peony was anchored in the changing seasons of my New Jersey gardens. It was there, among the crisp autumn air and the highly anticipated spring blooms, that the very heart of this business was cultivated. Every small-batch soap, every hand-poured candle, and every formulation carried a piece of that quiet, northern sanctuary.
Like a garden, sometimes we need room to grow and new soil to bloom. New Jersey gave me my roots. Texas is where I’ll discover what blossoms next.
Recently, I made the life-changing decision to pack up my studio, my family, and my dreams, and move across the country to Flower Mound, Texas. Leaving New Jersey was bittersweet. It meant saying goodbye to the physical garden where Wishful Peony first took root. And boy, do I miss my peonies more than I can say. All 200 plants, and the joy of watching each one bloom. Yet, I realized something vital: the essence of a garden doesn’t stay behind in the soil. It lives in the caretaker. The intention, the dedication to everyday luxury, and the pursuit of gentle, pharmacist-crafted skincare didn’t change with my zip code. They just found a new place to bloom.
Here in Texas, there is a distinct, welcoming spaciousness that invites you to slow down. The mornings start a little quieter, the golden hour lingers a little longer, and there is a genuine warmth in every “hello” from our new neighbors in Flower Mound.
As a pharmacist and a creator, my eyes are always tuned to how our environments affect our well-being. Adjusting to the Texas climate has been a sensory awakening. While I’ll always have a soft spot for crisp Northeastern autumns, there is something deeply restorative about the abundance of Texas sunlight. This new landscape is already breathing fresh inspiration into my daily routines. It has reinforced the core mission of Wishful Peony: creating moments of quiet luxury in the middle of everyday life. Whether it’s taking an extra five minutes in the morning to enjoy the sun on the porch or winding down at night with a comforting, skin-loving bath routine, this move is teaching me to embrace a slower, more intentional pace.
Unpacking boxes of Wishful Peony supplies in a brand-new space felt like a rebirth. Every corner of this new Texas studio has been designed with the same intention that guided me from day one: to create a sanctuary where science and softness meet.
I know that change can sometimes bring questions, so I want to share a heartfelt reassurance with our community. Every bar of soap is still meticulously formulated by hand. Every candle is poured in small, deliberate batches. My background as a pharmacist remains the backbone of every recipe, ensuring that your skin receives only the gentlest, most nourishing ingredients.
We are officially open for business in our new home, and I cannot wait to share this next chapter of creations with you!
As we officially turn the page to this new chapter, my heart is incredibly full.
Thank you for growing with us. The climate might be warmer and the skies might be wider, but the goal remains beautifully simple: to help you find moments of softness, self-love, and luxury in every single day.
With gratitude for the journey ahead,
Kim
